Academic Partner
Colorado State University is the academic partner to the Institute for Shipboard Education. Academic credit for Summer at Sea will be awarded by Colorado State University, and an official CSU transcript documenting the letter grades earned will be provided at the end of the semester.
One three-credit, undergraduate-level course will be offered during each of two summer sessions. Courses will differ from session to session and summer to summer. All courses taught on Summer at Sea will be approved CSU courses listed in the CSU course catalog.
This short-term program will give students the opportunity to earn three credits in as little as two weeks. Coursework will necessarily be accelerated, and students can expect to spend a significant portion of their days either in class, studying, or completing assignments. Classes will meet every day the ship is at sea. When the ship is in port, students will participate in experiential learning activities with the instructor and their cohort.
